Sunday July 3rd. Finals at TC Bakkum Dutch Junior Open. Who is going home with the trophy? 

Federica Urgesi, (Italy 3rd seed) - Josy Daems, (Germany 11th seed)

The girls finale of the 2022 Dutch Junior Open. The day started with the girls singles finale around 10.30 am. Both ladies started a little shaky and you could clearly see some nervous choices in the first few games. Urgesi profited in the third game of the match and took the first break. The italian took advantage of the many mistakes Daems made and continued here own strong and solid game. Urgesi took the first set with a large lead, 6-1. The second set continued like the first one. Urgesi’s deep ground strokes and few mistakes made it a one-sided match. With here solid and pretty tennis the Italian Urgesi wins the Dutch Junior Open 2022 with 6-1 6-3.

Antoine Ghinaudo (France, 16th seed) - Charlie Camus (Australia)

The boys final of the Dutch Junior Open 2022. With busy crowds and some great weather the final promised to be a good match. The frenchman was the absolute favorite after winning his match against the number 1 seeded Russian. The eccentric Australian Camus started very strong and seemed to be taking the lead in the match. Ghibaudo’s strong service got him out of trouble a lot throughout the game. The first set was decided by a few mistakes from the Australian side. The first set was 6-4 in the advantage of Ghibaudo. The second set had a very high level and it was a very close set. Long rally’s and spectaculair points caused a great atmosphere on court 1. Camus recovered well from a break behind. He seemed to be having the momentum of the match in the final games of set 2. The Frenchman came up with excellent recovery shots and took advantage of his strong serve. A few critical mistakes on important points eventually decided the game. His incredible serve made the real difference in the match. Antoine Ghibaudo wins the match 6-4 6-4 and takes the trophy home for the Dutch Junior Open 2022.

Emilien Demanet (Belgium)/ Anro Nel (South-Africa, 6th seeded) - Freddy Blaydes (Great-Britain)/ Max Dahlin (Sweden)

The boys final of 2022. A very strong doubles match with opponents who where very even matched. The first set started equal and both opponents had some amazing shots. Especially the points at the net were a joy to watch and we saw why these were the players in the final. The first set was decided in the tiebreak and Demanet and Nel took the first set. The second set was also a close battle. A single break in the second was enough for Nel and Demanet to secure their title. They are the deserving winners of this years boys double.

Girls doubles final: Dutch ladies Sarah van Emst/Britt du Pree – 1st seed Melisa Ercan (Turkey)/Amelie Smejkalova (Tsjechië)
The last match of the tournament was one with a Dutch flavour. At 15.30 Sarah van Emst and Britt du Pree entered the court for their final match against the 1st seeded couple Melisa Ercan (Turkey) and Amelie Smejkalova (Czech Republic). The Dutch girls had a great start and managed to break the topseeds early in the set. They maintained this lead and were able to pick up the first set with 6-4 and were halfway their mission. In the second set the roles were reversed. A break of serve at 3-3 was decisive to take the second set. A super tiebreak (until 10 points) had to decide who would win the tournament. The momentum was with the Melisa and Amelie; Sarah and Britt were not able to turn this around. They got behind with 8-4 and had to let to the title to their opponents. The final score in the super tiebreak was 10-5 for the topseeds.
